Abstract
The primary transportation challenge of any integrated Land Use and Transportation Study is to balance the success and livability of the local community with its responsibility to accommodate regional transportation demand. Livability is focused on balancing vehicular service requirements with local business, neighborhood and pedestrian needs. Module 4 presents how several key transportation obstacles to Livable Street Design should be approached and enable the community development community to engage transportation professionals and ensure transportation facilities are designed for communities. Key transposition conventions examined will include: project design traffic, roadway functional classifications, design speed, and roadway design standards.
