Abstract
Healthcare has become an increasingly important issue as population grows and the median age of the population increases. In general, healthcare costs have increased while the quality and quantity of services had decreased. (Loh, Cobb & Johnson, 2009). Reasonable access to healthcare is a valuable issue to consider. The ability to access healthcare can impact the public health of a population. It is important for cities to provide sound transportation infrastructure for residents to have the capacity to access healthcare. Hospitals represent a general point of access to healthcare by the general public. The research and analysis presented in this paper seeks to answer the following research questions: What is the current state of accessibility to hospitals by the street network in Jacksonville, Florida? To what extent is accessibility impacted under the disruption of the 100 year storm event?
