Abstract
The 2019 Tokyo Smart City studio is a semester-long project housed within the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) Eco Urban Lab. In collaboration with the Global Carbon Project (GCP), the National Institute for Environmental Studies of Japan (NIES), the Department of Urban Engineering of the University of Tokyo, and the University of Tsukuba, students built upon the work of the 2018 studio to address critical issues facing Kyojima. An assessment of existing conditions was conducted prior
to the field visit. Figures and statistics were generated using data acquired from the NIES Core Team and other various online resources. The area of interest was divided into segments based on the appropriate scale. The Spring Tokyo workshop was a collaborative effort among the Georgia Tech team and its sponsors.
