dc.description | Pascal Van Hentenryck joined Georgia Tech’s H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE) faculty as the A. Russell Chandler III Chair and Professor. Prior to this appointment, he was a professor of computer science at Brown University for about 20 years, led the optimization research group at National ICT Australia, and was the Seth Bonder Collegiate Professor of Engineering at the University of Michigan. His current work focuses on artificial intelligence, data science, and operations research with the goal of developing methodologies, algorithms, and systems for addressing challenging problems in mobility, energy systems, resilience, and privacy. | en_US |

dc.description.abstract | The convergence of several technology enablers, including ubiquitous connectivity, autonomous vehicles, and sophisticated analytics, provides unique opportunities to fundamentally transform mobility in the next decade. Ride-sourcing services have already modernized taxi services but they have also increased congestion and widened inequalities in accessibility. This talk looks at mobility from a logistics and supply chain angle and presents novel on-demand mobility services that have the potential to be scalable, and sustainable, handling both the first/last mile problem and congestion. Case studies will also be presented. | |
