Module 6 will review the status of emerging initiatives to design transportation facilities that build better communities. These will include the status of the "context sensitive solutions" initiative of FHWA and AASHTO, particularly focused on the progress that many states are making in bringing this approach to their project development process with specific examples from Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The BeltLine Transit Panel was assembled by the Atlanta Development Authority (ADA)
to review the studies done to date on the BeltLine project and assess and comment on the feasibility of the transit component and how it might function in relation to an integrated transit system for Central Atlanta. The end purpose of this work is to synthesize the information developed on the BeltLine for its transit potential and provide guidance and suggest principles on how BeltLine transit might develop over time.

Tim Jackson is president of Glatting Jackson Kercher Anglin Lopez Rinehart, Inc., a community planning consulting firm with offices in Orlando, Atlanta, and West Palm Beach. With a staff of 110, Glatting Jackson provides services to public and private clients throughout the nation in areas of planning, urban design, landscape architecture, transportation, and environmental science. Tim also currently serves as president of 1000 Friends of Florida, a private not-for-profit group that has been advocating smart growth throughout the State since 1986. Jackson was born and raised in Brandon, Florida, and holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and a Master of City Planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from Florida State. He and his wife, Carol, live in Longwood, Florida with their three sons.
