dc.description.abstract | The impacts of storm water runoff on water quality are becoming more significant as urban areas continue to expand and improvements are made in treated wastewater effluent quality. Urban storm water runoff can contain significant amounts of various pollutants including bacteria, sediments, nutrients and heavy metals (U.S. EPA, 1983). Urbanization or development of a watershed can have a variety of impacts on the stream, including increased flooding, streambank erosion and pollutant export (Schueler, 1987). This paper describes a regional monitoring plan developed and implemented in the Atlanta Region to comply with Clean Water Act rules, to characterize local storm water discharges, evaluate storm water control measures and identify long-term trends. | en_US |
