Securing financing can be one of the most daunting challenges to someone starting out on a new business venture. Inventors and new entrepreneurs face a unique set of obstacles that they must navigate through including answering the first question, "do I create a business around my invention or do I leverage my ideas through someone else?" This educational workshop seeks to help inventors understand the realities of financing their ideas, and provide a "how-to" for those looking to attract new investors, from friends and family to venture capitalists. Greg McGraw, a partner at TechCFO with over 25 years of top level financial and operational leadership, will discuss financing for all levels of inventors. Prototyping/Manufacturing Your Ideas

2008-11-17 , Zaidspiner, Sam , Muntner, Don

Every inventor wants a perfect prototype of their invention, but these items can cost tens of thousands of dollars, and make it impossible for an inventor to pursue their dream. Knowing what is both essential and unnecessary about prototypes can save independent inventors both time and money. Similarly, having a thorough understanding of quality manufacturing principles can be a great help to an independent inventor trying to sell or licensing their product. Join us for a workshop that will focus specifically on the educational needs of independent inventors as they work to navigate the areas of prototyping and manufacturing. Sam Zaidspiner, founder of Slingshot Product Development Group, a vertically-integrated product launch firm, will offer his 20 years of product development experience and discuss what independent inventors need to understand about manufacturing. In addition, Don Muntner, who leads Slingshot’s Start-Up department, and works exclusively with start-ups and inventor-entrepreneurs, will discuss the importance of prototyping and what independent inventors need to know before developing one. Slingshot Product Development Group is made up of over 35 designers, engineers, scientists, and project managers, and has helped many companies successfully launch innovations including Coca-Cola, Char-Broil, Lockheed, Plantronics and have developed products for recognized brands such as Con-Air, Tide, Craftsman, and Black & Decker.
