Biography of Julian Harris
Julian Harris (1907-1987) graduated from Georgia Tech in 1928 with a B.S. in architecture and soon became a noted free-lance sculptor, contributing many sculptures to the Atlanta area. Some of his work for the Georgia Tech campus includes ten busts of famous engineers and scientists, the bronze gate of the Naval Armory, and the stained glass window in Brittain Dining Hall. Harris taught part time in the College of Architecture for 34 years.
Description
The Julian Harris Photograph Collection includes photographs of the 1987 Georgia Tech library exhibit showing his work and photographs of his studio taken in July 1987, approximately six months after his death. The bulk of the photographs depict his studio. This collection contains silver gelatin prints in good condition.
