The Development and Characterization of the Laser Ranging System on the RANGE CubeSat Mission

In Spring 2016, Georgia Tech Space Systems Design Laboratory (SSDL) will begin operations on the Ranging And Nanosatellite Guidance Experiment (RANGE) Mission. A crucial element of this mission is the Inter satellite ranging system. This system will determine the relative distance between the two RANGE sister CubeSats providing validation that such a system can function in orbit on a CubeSat. This document describes the factors considered in choosing the Voxtel Laser Range Finder (LRF) Module as the flight unit for both satellites, the integration and testing of this system, and the preliminary analysis of laboratory testing data to predict on-orbit performance.

Web Application to Teach Elementary School Students Sentence Parts via Diagramming

While many educators avoid the subject of diagramming sentences when teaching English sentence parts and grammar, this paper presents a web application that leverages simplified sentence diagramming to teach or reinforce existing knowledge of sentence parts in elementary school students. It uses a visual depiction of sentences that has several levels of complexity to appeal to varying age students and provides feedback that mimics an Intelligent Tutoring System to help students complete their learning goals.

Evaluation of intelligent tutoring systems (ITS) is an important area of research in current educational practices. There are many work has been done to analyse the effectiveness of various ITS products to aid student education. We focused on top 3 ITS products to compare and analyse individual ITS product outcome and its effectiveness. Additionally, we explored the current problems that may exist with measuring the effectiveness of ITS by conducting research study on different methods that are currently used.

Piana High-Performance Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) Microservice Framework

The project “Piazzalytics” for the time being is, 1) to create a set of RestFul APIs to allow users extracting the entire online post information with the same hierarchical manner, 2) to persist the extracted data in the database and monitor the post communication, 3) to provide a functionality of notifying the users when new target posts/responses with desired keywords are created, and 4) finally to offer several analytical data services via the Restful APIs, including the historical records in the data warehouse and the data differential features. Although the current Piana data micro service project is still in its proof-of-concept stage, however, it has been already able to provide any further Piazza-related projects with the Piazza data service. Having said, this project could be even better if the JSON data from the Piazza could be further cleaned and reformatted to remove any irrelevant parts.
