    Vegetative Stream Buffers: Opportunities for Water Quality

    The first section of the paper is an overview of the relevant issues concerning buffer strips. Their size, shape, and management are determined by various combinations of economic, ecological, and regulatory factors. The purpose of this review is to provide insight into these considerations through a synthesis of the current literature. The second section is devoted to an analysis that continues the water quality theme. This paper is written with the intent to make the issues understandable to nontechnical minds yet contain enough scientific reasoning to allow experts within the field to follow the logic.
