    Educational technologists and librarians will follow up their well-received EDUCAUSE 2007 panel session on library disconnects to focus on millennial user expectations concerning learning management systems. Bringing together a diverse set of perspectives and outside-the-box thinkers, this session will feature panelist discussion interspersed with new media demonstrations and audience participation.

    Advances in Scholarly Communication

    This panel discussion will address the broader changes taking place in the scholarly communication system, some local responses to these changes, and the benefits and opportunities for institutions to increase the use and impact of their scholars' research through institutional repositories (IRs). Georgia Tech will provide an overview of the statewide GALILEO Knowledge Repository (GKR) program, and discuss their combined scholarly communication and repository and publishing services program. Georgia State will discuss the IR-related faculty outreach and collection development efforts of their subject librarians. Valdosta State will describe how they envision the GKR IR hosting service assisting them in providing an alternative publishing platform to their scholars.

    Despite research that shows cognitive decline as we grow older, changes in emotion show a positive developmental trajectory. This talk will address two questions. What are the skills older adults possess and use when regulating their emotions? Under what conditions are older adults more effective and least effective at regulating their emotions?

    Creating Trust Relationships for Distributed Digital Preservation Federations

    The authors outline a model for digital preservation federation based upon several existing models including the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank regional governance model and its similarities to successful large-scale redundant internet networks. In addition other trust models will be examined including Maister, Green, and Galford (2000), Holland and Lockett (1998), and Ring and Van de Ven (1994). These models provide key frameworks for understanding how trust can be enabled among federated but independent institutions.
