Student Activities Committee Minutes

November 7, 2005

Members Present: Nancy Simons (Faculty Member), Tom Morley (Faculty Member), Danielle McDonald (Student Affairs representative, Secretary), Mary-Frances Panettiere (Faculty Member), Rob Butera (Faculty member)

Members Absent: Robert Wood (Executive Board Liaison), Brent Carter (Faculty member, Chair), SGA representatives

Danielle McDonald Chaired the meeting in Brent Carter’s absence

I.  Approval of Minutes from October 10, 2005

Nancy moved and Mary-Frances seconded the motion to approve the minutes

Unanimously approved

II. Old Business

Kendo Club

Discussion: Tabled due to lack of organization representative

Wrek Racing

Discussion: added graduate students as eligible members, Clarified in Section IV. D that the officer it refers to is the President

Tom moved and Nancy seconded the motion to approve the charter of Wrek Racing with stipulated changes

Unanimously approved

Victory Campus Ministry

Discussion: Organization has changed name and entire constitution. Need to go back through charter process.

Pre-Dental Society

Discussion: Article IV changed Council to Committee in Section III.  Section IV B. clarified must that must be a member for 1 year before taking office, changed announcements and voting to be no more than 4 weeks.  Section IV. E  changed to officers taking over at last meeting of Spring semester.  Article V Section II clarified it took majority vote of exec board to choose the advisor

Tom moved and Nancy seconded the motion to approve the charter of Pre-Dental Society with stipulated changes

Unanimously approved

Optical Society of America

Discussion:  Article 4 Section C removed run off section Article 5 Section 2 added majority vote of Exec to choose the advisor

Nancy moved and Tom seconded the motion to approve the charter of Optical Society of America with stipulated changes

Unanimously approved

A. Charters for considerations

Physical Fitness Club

Discussion:  application pulled because the organization quit the process

The Way Campus Fellowship

Discussion: Tabled due to lack of representative

Semper Fi Society

Discussion: Tabled due to lack of representative

IV. Discussion Items

Mike Adams – discussed the claims that Mike Adams wrote about in regards to funding policies in SGA

Policy question regarding financial affairs of student organizations – held this discussion off until the next meeting
