7th Annual AE Expo - Best Yet

The 7th Annual AE Expo was held on September 17, 2013 in the Clough Undergraduate Learning Center, attracting over 300 people. A main highlight of the event was the booths showcasing research from almost every lab within the School of AE.  Beside the displays in the Clough Atrium, there were also lab tours to the Aerospace Systems Design Lab (ASDL), the John J. Harper Wind Tunnel, and the Cognitive Engineering Center's Flight Simulator.

This year saw the highest attendance yet, with over 300 students and distinguished guests.  The School's external advisory council (AESAC) annual meeting also coincided with the AE Expo.  About 15 AESAC members were among the attendees.  They were delighted with the research displays and the chance to interact with the students and other visitors.

The event was organized by the School of AE Student Advisory Council (SAESAC), and was sponsored by the Georgia Center for Innovation - Aerospace; the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) - Atlanta Chapter; and the Daniel Guggenheim School of AE.

Letter from the Chair

Dear AE alumni and friends:

There is much going on in our School this semester!  On September 17-18, our External Advisory Council visited our School. The members were briefed on our undergraduate curriculum reform efforts, strategic plan efforts, and the research plans of our new faculty. Our Council members also toured the recently renovated instructional labs and attended the AE Research Expo.

On September 20th, over 80 parents and siblings visited our School and attended the Family Weekend reception. The families were happy to learn of the Design/Build/Fly and undergraduate research opportunities available to the students.

We look forward to seeing many of you during the Homecoming Weekend (Oct 31- Nov 2). In the meanwhile, please stay in touch with us through our web site, and the LinkedIn, FaceBook, and Twitter sites.  With best wishes,

Vigor Yang
Chair, School of AE
