Abstract
Hip flexion angles were measured on a subject for both walking and sprinting trials using two different IMUs: Microstrain’s IMU and Adafruit’s BNO055 IMU. These measurements were compared against measurements simultaneously gathered by a Vicon motion capture system. For the walking trials, the overall RMSE for the Microstrain IMU was 24.82° and the overall RMSE for the BNO IMU was 29.53°. For the sprinting trials, the overall RMSE, phase shift, and shifted RMSE of the Microstrain IMU were 13.51°, 0.0284 seconds, and 13.55°, respectively. Likewise, for the BNO IMU, the overall RMSE, phase shift, and shifted RMSE were 16.48°, 0.0489 seconds, and 15.15°, respectively.
