Abstract
This investigation compares the degree of interdisciplinarity and impact indicators of Innovation Studies Units and Business and Management Schools. The results illustrate the general disadvantage of interdisciplinarity in assessement, by showing how allegedly excellence-based journal rankings have a bias in favour of mono-disciplinary research, and how this negatively affects the assessment of interdisciplinary organisations.
