Abstract
Using two case studies - the use of wikis in the Cornell University Libraries, and the use of wikis and other social software at Florida State University - Zoe Stewart-Marshall of Cornell University Libraries and Mason Hall of Florida State University Libraries will examine the organizational outcomes of integrating social software such as wikis, blogs, instant messaging, and other interactive "2.0" tools into ER activities. Topics for this presentation include planning for new tools, training, usability issues, measurement of outcomes, scenarios that worked (and some that didn't), mentoring staff uncomfortable with new tools, policies and procedures for use of social software, and working with information technology specialists on requirements, upgrades, and selection of the right products. Special attention will be paid to the benefits and limitations of using social software to enhance collaboration and communication.
