Integrated Atomic Beam Collimator and Methods Thereof

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to atomic beam collimators and, more particularly, to miniaturized coplanar atomic beam collimators. In some examples, an atomic beam collimator may comprise an atomic channel disposed in a substrate. Additional atomic channels may be provided coplanar with the first atomic channel in the substrate. Some examples include a series of cascaded atomic channels, each cascaded atomic channel separated by a gap. The gaps may reduce the off-flux atoms in the output of the atomic collimator. In some examples, a system may comprise an atomic collimator, an atom source, and/or a microelectromechanical system device. These component can be separate devices or can be incorporated into a common substrate.

Ocular Monitoring Headset

A system for monitoring ocular movement can comprise a housing, a plurality of light sources, at least one imager, and a controller. The housing can define a cavity configured to allow each eye of a patient to view an interior region of the housing. The plurality of light sources can be oriented within the interior region of the housing. The at least one imager can be oriented to capture an image of an eye of a patient during an evaluation. The at least one controller can comprise at least one processor and a non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions. The instructions can be executed by the processor and cause the controller to receive image data from the at least one imager and illuminate the plurality of light sources in a predetermined and reconfigurable sequence.

Stackable Isolated Voltage Optimization Module

Various examples are provided for isolated voltage optimization and control. In one example, a stackable isolated voltage optimization module (SIVOM) includes a transformer having a turns ratio between a primary winding and a secondary winding; a switching circuit configured to energize the secondary winding with a voltage provided from the three-phase power system or short the secondary winding; and a connection block configured to couple the switching circuitry to the first phase and a neutral, or to second and third phases of the three-phase power system. In another example, a system includes a SIVOM coupled to each phase of a three-phase power system, where each SIVOM comprises: a transformer and a switching circuit configured to boost or buck a voltage or change a phase angle of the phase coupled to that SIVOM by energizing a secondary winding of the transformer with a voltage provided from the three-phase power system.

Multi-Carrier Noncontact Signal Detection with Noise Suppression Based on a Phase-Locked Loop

In one aspect, embodiments of the present disclosure can comprise a non-contact signal detection system for detecting movement associated with a subject. The system can comprise a carrier source configured to generate a first carrier signal in phase coherence with a second carrier signal. Additionally, the system may incorporate a phase-locked loop including noise pre-cancellation system for suppressing the noise associated with a beat signal and a controlled oscillation system. The noise pre-cancellation system can be configured to phase-lock the beat signal to a first reference signal in order to stabilize the phase of the beat signal and pre-cancel the noise associated with the beat signal. The controlled oscillation system can include a propagation pathway on which a transmission signal is phase-modulated with a vibratory signal of the subject. Once acquired, the vibratory signal can have suppressed noise.

Method of Manufacture Using Complementary Conductivity-Selective Wet-Etching Techniques for III-Nitride Materials and Devices

Methods for wet-etching semiconductor samples and devices fabricated from the same are disclosed. The methods can be for selectively wet-etching a semiconductor sample comprising selecting a liquid-phase solution such that when the semiconductor sample is etched with the liquid-phase solution, at least a portion of one of a first doped region or a second doped region is etched at a greater rate than at least a portion of the other of the first doped region or the second doped region; and wet-etching, with the liquid-phase solution, the at least a portion of one of the first doped region or the second doped region at a first etch rate and the at least a portion of the other of the first doped region or the second doped region at a second etch rate; wherein the first etch rate can be greater than the second etch rate.

Systems and Methods for Cell Membrane Identification and Tracking, and Technique Automation Using the Same

A system including a processor, and memory having stored thereon instructions that, when executed by the processor, control the processor to receive image data of a sequence of images, and a current image of the sequence of images being after a previous image in the sequence of images, each of the current and previous images including a cell, filter the current image to remove noise, iteratively deconvolve the filtered current image to identify edges of the cell within the current image based on determined edges of the cell within the previous image, and segment the deconvolved current image to determine edges of the cell within the current image.

Methods for Convectively-Driven Intracellular Delivery

Embodiments of the present disclosure can include a method for convective intracellular delivery including providing cells and molecules to a microchannel having compressive surfaces, wherein the compressive surfaces define compression gaps having a height of from 20 and 80% of the average cell diameter; and a plurality of relaxation spaces disposed between the compressive surfaces; flowing the cell medium through the microchannel, wherein as the cell medium flows through the microchannel, the plurality of cells undergo a convective intracellular delivery process comprising: compressing the plurality of cells, wherein the compressing causes the plurality of cells to undergo a loss in intracellular volume (Vloss); and passing the plurality of cells to a first relaxation space, wherein the plurality of cells undergo a gain in volume (Vgain) and absorb a portion of the plurality of molecules.

3D Printing Using Phase Changing Matertials as Support

A method or apparatus for three-dimensionally printing. The method may comprise causing a phase change in a region of the first material by applying focused energy to the region using a focused energy source, and displacing the first material with a second material. The apparatus may comprise a container configured to hold a first material, a focused energy source configured to cause a phase change in a region of the first material by applying focused energy to the region, and an injector configured to displace the first material with a second material. The first material may comprise a yield stress material, which is a material exhibiting Herschel-Bulkley behavior. The yield stress material may comprise a soft granular gel. The second material may comprise one or more cells.

Dual-Energy CT Through Primary Beam Modulation

Disclosed herein is a system and method, which utilize primary beam modulation to enable single-scan dual-energy CT (DECT) on a conventional CT scanner. An attenuation sheet with a spatially-varying pattern is placed between the x-ray source and the imaged object. During the CT scan, the modulator selectively hardens the x-ray beam at specific detector locations. Thus, this method simultaneously acquires high and low energy data at each projection angle. High and low energy CT images can then reconstructed from the projections via an iterative CT reconstruction algorithm, which accounts for the spatial modulation of the projected x-rays.
