dc.description.abstract The talk will employ a comparison of the historical experience of four large-scale industries – the Mexican and Brazilian auto and oil industries – to evaluate some of the main factors shaping firm-level learning and acquisition of knowledge-based assets between the 1970s and the 2000s. It will underscore the central role of (a) initial capacity endowments, and (b) alternations in the hegemonic policy paradigms to account for variations in industry-level learning patterns. en_US
