Abstract
This urban design studio class report documents the work of a mix of Master of Science in Urban Design and Master of Science in High Performing Buildings for a sponsored study of development possibilities to extend the urban character of Doraville, Georgia’s soon-to-be-redeveloped downtown. The HPB students quantified diverse sustainability impacts of the MSUD students' designs and they collaborated on improvements. The City of Doraville sponsored Professor Ellen Dunham-Jones’ and Professor Patrick Kastner’s class to assist the community and local leaders in envisioning positive change and having more informed discussions about how to become more walkable, more affordable, more sustainable, and more celebratory of the city’s diverse population.
