Abstract
In theory the goal of Institutional Repositories (IRs) was to address the crisis in scholarly communication. In practice IRs are often lifeless warehouses for any content the library could grab. Nevertheless, the IR has the potential to showcase a university’s intellectual and corporate output, and contribute to the creation of knowledge.
