Abstract
The Program to Advance Inflatable Decelerators for Atmospheric Entry (PAIDAE) is jointly funded by NASA's Fundamental Aeronautics Supersonics and Hypersonics Projects. The purpose of PAIDAE is to engage in the research, ground testing, and analysis necessary to mature Inflatable Aerodynamic Decelerator (IAD) technology for both a hypersonic atmospheric entry application and a supersonic deceleration application. Over two years, PAIDEA has executed three wind-tunnel tests, a set of ballistic range tests, and a number of analyses and trade studies. This presentation reviews some of PAIDEA's results and lessons learned, and discusses the future activities of the program.
