Abstract
This report presents our findings on the economic development potential of Georgia's biotechnology industry emanating from research and analysis conducted from August through December 2000. The paper first examines the current state of the biotechnology industry in the United States and Georgia, focusing on its spatial patterns, location characteristics, and areas of emerging activity. It then provides an evaluation of Georgia's existing biotechnology industry. The conclusion contains recommendations intended to maximize the state's potential to further develop the biotechnology industry.
