Abstract
The Car Allowance Rebate System (C.A.R.S.), colloquially called Cash for Clunkers, started June 24, 2009 under the Obama administration. It was suppose to last until November 1st, 2009 but failed to do so because of funding issues. Our research explores whether C.A.R.S truly had an effect stimulating us out of a recession. We will be exploring the long term effects of C.A.R.S by exploring regional differences. To do this, we explored the variation between regions and compare it to the effectiveness of the program and concluded that the program was not effective.
