Abstract
The use of trenches for the recovery of shallow groundwater is often more feasible then individual extraction wells. Trenches have the advantages of having a large surface infiltration area which minimizes plugging of the filter pack, a contiguous capture area which allows for a greater percentage of capture and lower operation cost since fewer pumps are required to span long linear areas.
