Abstract
We present findings from the first systematic pan- EU27 survey of university researchers to explore career and mobility issues. We find that international mobility is a feature of the research career path of many European university researchers, with more than half (56%) having experienced international mobility at least once during their research career. Mobility is a complex phenomenon comprising personal, scientific, career, and other considerations and having positive and negative impacts on individuals, their families, research-performing organisations, networks and national research systems.
