Abstract
Physical security, being a multi-billion dollar industry has now transformed into an IoT based service industry. Traditional security systems include video sensing through cameras, laser sensors, security guards or motion detectors, all of which are either expensive, unreliable, consume lots of hardware and data or over reliant on human intervention. Wireless signals have been studied as alternatives over the past few decades. We propose UWB (ultra wide-band), a wireless signal technology that can perform intrusion sensing and detection in a room as a multi-model security solution based on its two properties - distance measurement and channel impulse response (CIR). The purpose of this work is to come up with a solution that will consume minimal hardware, can be expanded easily to cover large spaces and can be implemented at lower costs.
