Abstract
A number of states have begun to develop sophisticated water reporting and management systems. The recent years of drought conditions in Georgia have brought greater attention to the need for adequate information about the condition of water resources. This paper reviews the participation and technical assistance experiences of Carl Vinson Institute of Government faculty in the Interagency Task Force on Georgia's Drought and outlines the key features and limitation of the information system that was developed. Features of a 'next generation' system that could contribute more effectively to water resource management in the state are identified.
