Abstract
This research examines how bus stop design affects perceived safety across Atlanta’s MARTA service area. I used publicly available data to create a safety score based on physical features like lighting, sidewalks, and shelters. I then analyzed how these scores relate to neighborhood demographics and crime data. I found that stops in low-income and majority-Black areas often lack safety-enhancing features. The findings show the need for more equitable transit infrastructure investment.
