dc.description Filmmaker Cyril Dion is a French writer, film director, poet, and activist. After studying at the École d'art dramatique Jean-Périmony (drama school) and a very short carrier as an actor, Cyril became Project Manager for the Hommes de Paroles foundation. He took part in organizing the Israeli-Palestinian congress in Caux in 2003, then the 1st and 2nd Imams and Rabis World Congress in Bruxelles and Sevilla in 2005 and 2006. en_US
dc.description Antoine Constantin Caille is a visiting Assistant Professor in the School of Modern Languages at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in Francophone Studies in 2015. His work focuses on critical theory, 19th- and 20th-century French/Francophone literatures, and cinema. Most of his dissertation has been reworked to be published as a series of articles in different refereed journals. He is currently working on two book projects, one on ecology and education in films, and another on translation difficulties between English and French. en_US
dc.description Jennifer Hirsch is the Director of the Center for Serve-Learn-Sustain at Georgia Tech. Dr. Hirsch is an applied cultural anthropologist specializing in community sustainability, cultural diversity, experiential education, and network building. She is recognized nationally for fostering grassroots participation in sustainability, climate, and energy action planning and implementation, using a unique combination of methodologies from anthropology, popular education, asset-based community development, participatory facilitation, and museum education. Before joining Georgia Tech, she worked as an independent consultant, focusing on campus sustainability and partnering with nonprofit organizations on community sustainability projects. From 2007-2012, she led the Field Museum’s Chicago program on community-based sustainability and climate change action. Dr. Hirsch also has an extensive background in higher education administration. Between 2000-2007, she worked at Northwestern University as associate director of study abroad and then as director of Chicago Field Studies and lecturer in the Department of Anthropology. Dr. Hirsch earned her PhD in cultural anthropology from Duke University and her bachelor's degree in American culture from Northwestern University. She studied abroad at Waseda University in Japan and spent three years working in Japan for the Japanese government and Baxter Healthcare. en_US
dc.description Dr. Angela Dalle Vacche is a Professor in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication at Georgia Tech. A specialist in the intersection of aesthetic theory and film history, Dr. Dalle Vacche was born in Venice, Italy and came to the United States in 1978. She has graduate degrees in American Studies (1980) and Film Studies (1985) from Mount Holyoke College and the University of Iowa. She has been the recipient of a Fulbright Travel Grant; a Mellon Fellowship; a Rockefeller Bellagio Grant; a Leverhulme Distinguished Senior Professorship at the University of London, Birkbeck College; and a Dora Maar Fellowship in Menerbes, France. During the Summer of 2016, she will be lecturing on Cinema and the Museum at the Institute for Marketing and Technology in Lucca, Italy. Dalle Vacche’s retrospective Italian Silent Divas: Passion and Defiance for the 2000 New York Film Festival was voted as “Best Event of the Year,” by Art Forum. Dalle Vacche has given guest-lectures in Europe, Asia, and Australia. Currently Dalle Vacche is completing a book titled: Andre Bazin’s Film Theory: Art, Science, Religion, forthcoming in 2018. en_US
