Abstract
Bowen has pioneered the introduction of construction industry studies into the College's
curriculum and this includes a strong emphasis on researching the industry's history. In
this session he will explain why the history of design and construction should be
important to us, review his recent and current research and the lessons to be learned
therefrom, and cover the activities of the Construction History Society of America, which
the College helped organize in 2007. He believes that a broader view of construction
history fits perfectly with the industry's moves to closer integration and can help guide
that process.
