Abstract
A reconnaissance investigation of five counties in west central Georgia was conducted utilizing capture zone and GIS overlay analysis methods to estimate the general quantity of the ground-water resource and to identify those areas that would be most favorable to explore for highyielding well sites. The estimated available ground-water resource in the Piedmont portion of the area (1,357 me) is at least 40 million gallons per day (mgd). In the Valley and Ridge portion (257 mi2), the estimated ground-water resource is at least 19 mgd from wells and springs.
