Abstract
Scenarios with multiple speakers are notoriously difficult for d/Deaf and hard of hearing individuals. While head-worn-displays are a discreet alternative to smartphones for real-time captioning, their viability for these group conversations is not thoroughly explored. We leverage a emulated group captioning system using Google Glass EE 2, and a large flat screen TV for a user study investigating the effects of FOV on user preference and perception. Results suggest that a FOV around 15-20 degrees may be optimal for group captioning on a head-worn display.
