dc.description Frank Wang is a fourth year Ph.D student at MIT in the PDOS group advised by Nickolai Zeldovich and James Mickens. He has also worked with Matei Zaharia, Shafi Goldwasser, and Vinod Vaikuntanathan. He did his undergraduate at Stanford University majoring in Computer Science and performed research under Dan Boneh and John Mitchell. He has also worked on the security team at Google and Facebook. His current research interests are computer security and privacy, systems, and applied cryptography. In the past, he has also done research in energy and computational sciences.

dc.description.abstract Security has become a hot topic given recent hacks of major corporations, like Sony, Home Depot, and Anthem. However, those hacks were easily preventable with the correct technology. The problem is that many times, security research is not being properly commercialized. In this talk, learn about some cutting-edge security research being done in universities, their barriers to adoption, and the need to bridge the gap between academia and industry, motivating the formation of a cybersecurity accelerator focused on students, The Cybersecurity Factory. en_US
