Abstract
Newly urbanizing areas have a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to the solution of urban wet weather flow problems. Adopting and implementing management techniques at the time of development may be more efficient than retrofitting existing areas. However, in order for significant progress to occur, these techniques and the methods used to design them must be practical, cost-effective, and acceptable to the public. This paper examines some of the issues related to wet weather flow management in newly urbanizing areas and some of the on-going activities to develop a guidance manual.
