Abstract
Collaboration facilitates the creation, transfer and absorption of new knowledge by reducing risk and complexity. This study considers differences in collaborative behaviour across thirteen countries. It finds that firms with own R&D and international collaboration collaborate more with local partners whereas foreign-owned firms collaborate more with global partners than with local ones.
