Abstract
This Fall 2024 urban design studio report documents the work of Master of Science in Urban Design students in their first semester on proposals where the Atlanta Beltline crosses underneath MARTA rail at Murphy Crossing. This is the site of one of four infill MARTA stations that Mayor Andre Dickens ordered to be planned via an Administrative Order in 2024. The former industrial properties at this site are ripe for dense, transit-oriented development. But, they also abut the low-rise historic residential streetcar neighborhoods of West End, Adair Park, Capitol View, and Oakland City. Working on different sub-sites and at slight variations on the location of the MARTA station, the students each came up with different master plans to assist the city and local communities assess the transitions to higher density and inform future planning.
