Abstract
The objective of this thesis is to design and evaluate a 28 GHz backscattering Millimeter
Wave Identification (mmID) system for detecting cross-polarized power sources. The
research focuses on optimizing the system’s detection sensitivity, modulation, and reliability
across diverse operational environments, with an emphasis on scalability and versatility.
This work aims to address the challenge of identifying existing cross-polarized power
sources in the environment, laying the groundwork for the development of fully wirelessly
powered and energy-autonomous devices for the Internet of Things (IoT) era.
