Abstract
The high-frequency transformer is a key component in solid state transformer. In the S4T, the high-frequency transformer is similar to a fly-back transformer and acting as an energy storage unit. Therefore, it is important to understand the losses in the high-frequency transformer and address the losses with appropriate thermal management. This research identifies, analyzes and experimentally verifies the following loss components: AC copper loss in active winding, open winding, and transition stages; core loss under no DC bias and with DC bias.
