Abstract
Through an integrated social marketing perspective, autocratic science policies can transfuse into open systems of collaborative engagement. Science should be informed by, and should itself incorporate, more effective forms of symmetrical two-way deliberation, empowering inputs from a wider diversity of social actors, downstream as well as upstream.
