dc.description.abstract Duke is down on one knee on the grass of Grant Field. The East Stands are behind him to his left, and the "Old Gym" can be seen at the north end of the field. Duke is wearing a practice uniform with the number 53 in dark print on a light colored jersey, dark pants, and lace-up boots. He is holding a helmet.||Paul Anderson Duke graduated from Georgia Tech in 1945 with a degree in M.E., and in 1946 with a degree in I.E. Although he began his football career at Tech as a walk-on, he captained the team as a junior during Coach Bobby Dodd's first season, and was named an All-American center by both the Associated Press and United Press International during his senior year. He was AAU heavyweight wrestling champion in 1945, a member of ANAK, secretary of his senior class, and president of the Chi Phi fraternity. Duke was one of the forces behind the incorporation of Technology Park/Atlanta in 1971, an early hub of high-tech industry in the Atlanta area. He was the founder and chairman of Peachtree Corners. Duke received the President's Award in 1987 for "exceptional achievement and unusual generosity". He is a former trustee of the Georgia Tech Alumni Association, and a former member of both the Georgia Tech Athletic Advisory Board and the National Advisory Board. He was named a trustee of the Georgia Tech Foundation in 1972 and became a trustee emeritus in 1992. In 1982 he received the Alumni Distinguished Service Award. en_US
