All right. Next up we have John Walker from Rick Perry via the lightning struck the water right here to talk to you about research here the party got your studio right radio station. And you know I'm still give you a brief history about where we are and sort of that you know like the stories behind us in our programming fluffy so you can better understand where your money goes to and so we have a very firm believer in quality first program but that means it's been playing music that you normally don't hear on the radio in fact you know most of our programming is stuff that you would never hear on the top forty radio station are you know Q one hundred but we're OK with that but we're trying to provide our listeners who need to experience. We're playing music that has like maybe one or two outlets and then be through us. And maybe you know their grandparents or something. And so the reason we're playing is because of our it's risky. You know we're doing that since nine hundred sixty eight. We started over in the band here building up ten watt transmitter what you're seeing here is our overall mission says no it was this crazy Rolodex type machine with a track that you know that went around the circle and did all those good magic and we were able to you know broadcast twenty four hours a day and then one hundred seventy eight sold out with the sale of W.G.S. people we're going to move into the coliseum Yes that's sort of what you know a lot of pictures are a rarity of really proud of a studio with a whole bunch of pictures everywhere but this is where we stayed for almost twenty years and that's where we really built up our culture our first city very apparent in the community and you know with the sale of the major guest you were able to purchase a three hundred foot tower it's over. Unless campus you haven't seen it it's important for you doesn't want to know we're going to upgrade the first thing to a hundred thousand watts and so what that means is since nine hundred seventy. We've been brought you know complaining Atlanta with our radio airwaves and it's something that's accessible to you as a student successful the everybody that's involved with the tech just before you go over into the student involving center right now you have a lot bigger spaces it's just a little separate from our studio the city. We have now it's really nice through. You know student fun is actually a game of my donation. We were able to make a radio station that you know we have a lot of my family about a month ago we were to you know he works as a professional D.J. like the studio looks exactly what I do when I go into work every day. So as a student here you're allowed to come in and it will teach you how to give them and that's what really has become become a very well run student run radio station because if you are an engineering. You might not agree with their musical choices but we're open to everybody with a very diverse programming form and so you know that's the sort of what we've been trying to do with radio and you know I guess you probably don't understand our programming philosophy very well but we have something called Walk for having and what that is is we have all sorts of different shows during the day we don't play one type of music before the classics and early morning jazz and sort of late morning bar the roll over in the afternoon that we have after six P.M. We have all these specialty shows that happen. So you'll hear like the best music that is sort of you know along the lines of you know agent and they'll be D.J.'s who are really slowly committed to providing this kind of music and then there's like there's shows like literally like trying to get machine that plays a techno for like three half hours on Saturday nights and so we have this kind of format because we want to you know try to touch everything because we're not we're for a good station we don't have to worry about appealing to you know marketing advertising parenting earning points and trying to do all the things we can begin to do you know what every one really with their ways we try to bring our listeners a very diverse experience which is talking about some of the members who are not key members but most interesting people are of all the radio station for example Bernice has been following ready stations since one thousand nine hundred eighty five or so she doesn't actually work at a radio station she only calls talks about the show or her grandparents or something. Some kind of problem she has just like a really old lady now but you know a lot of my back thirty years ago they still remember actually calling for the participants and. For a while you know she's a really sweet lady trying to revise what to do and other the interesting thing about records we have a lot of the old shows that have happened. You know like we have right here which is sort of like our own show that I really think of several more personality but everybody's The most interesting show. I think really it's a heavy metal bar show that happens Friday from midnight to whenever they fall asleep so probably six A.M. or something like that and the shows they have such great histories like one year ago we have the freedom here to get to some crazy concert that they want to get tickets to and the dishes like the first person to bring it the whole the station just parroting it. It's like two A.M. in the middle that I don't want the boys listening to records but people walk to the station anyway what I want this ticket so badly and you taste like no jury takes the scrutiny puts it into his car to prove to the value one of those tickets and so you know record of me have all these stories amazing. I'm liking it that we have this thing called the artwork and it just has all these stories and like crazy things. This is the good lunch party just like bangs on things and yells out poetry really good that now he's like a fetus Atlantean and sort of like body is this period right. You know down here in this new phase of our kind of life. We're going to be we're doing a lot more things for example we did the Mini five hundred we got some of our new operators to come in really they want to do something awesome to get this into you know right around the stress or up to the parking deck and I don't expect them to win or anything but I came in for. We did really well for a team we actually have a good turnout that works with us here. He's from Wheeler high school next year and he now he's like I love the radio. I love what you guys do you can I be involved. Like I am free labor for you know where is it OPERATOR And you know try to help me out with this project and he has a show on Monday from twelve to one and so you know very deal is a very open environment. If you're a student if you're a faculty member. You're just staff you're more the only truly better exam. Well you know he does last in the stacks and he just came to me one day he's like hey I have an idea for sure and I generally prefer the service department works. So it's a very easily accessible things especially since we're in the middle of campus. So if you're interested. All you need to do just come to the radio station. If you know you have to make a point or whatever and someone will be there to talk to them. There's a training process you don't have any experience they don't want to be on they are just want to do engineering hard core engineering got that you already know there's a lot of different opportunities for you and what I want to leave you with today is sort of this radio station that you might have one office like the labels with the previous don't listen to one hundred it's actually a really good radio station just have to know when to listen and if you want to be able to feel like we have specific types of music. So if you want to go to programming or I go to during the radio or you have your exhibit or a tree and there's a whole life playlist and everything. So thank you.
